Bartaco closes after four years at Ballston Quarter

A taqueria on the lower level of Ballston Quarter has closed permanently.

Bartaco is now shuttered at 4238 Wilson Blvd. The New York-based franchise spent over four years in the mall’s lower-level food hall.

Bartaco opened in January 2021

  • The restaurant offered tacos with toppings like crispy oyster, roasted duck and ahi tuna. It also served salads, rice bowls, and chips and dip.
  • Permits and state records do not yet indicate a new tenant for the space.
  • Bartaco’s nearby locations in D.C., Reston and the Mosaic District remain open.

The food hall has new kiosks

  • Tous les Jours bakery opened on the lower level last month, and the East Asian-themed Luna Bar hopes to open there this spring.
  • Hot pot restaurant Top Pot is currently aiming for a summer opening near Mezeh on the mall’s ground floor level.

Bartaco and Ballston Quarter’s management team did not respond to requests for comment.
